Adoption Update

This is not our best family photo I have to admit, but it's the most recent one we have, and it's the one we submitted with our adoption application. This may not be terribly exciting to anyone else, but it is to me. We have officially completed and submitted our adoption application! This is the application to the agency. Just to give you a little time line for what we're looking at over the next few months, according to the agency information, it could take 2-3 months for our initial application to be reviewed and accepted by the agency, then another 2-3 months to complete the home study process, and then we could receive a referral for a child 3-6 months following that, so it is very possible that we could receive a referral for a child within a year! This does not mean we will receive a child into our home within the year. National Foster Care Month

May is National Foster Care Month, and while we don't exactly do foster care (although we're doing something a little similar at the moment), it is something that has been in my thoughts a lot lately, so I thought writing this little blog post might put it in your thoughts too. I'm not writing this post so that everyone will run out and become foster parents (although if you are feel drawn towards that, by all means do it!). I'm writing it more to support those that are currently foster parents. Foster care can be a wonderful opportunity for children that cannot currently be in their own homes or are orphans to be surrounded by and cared for by a loving family. I know there are horror stories out there of foster families, but I also know that there are wonderful God-fearing foster families out there that want nothing more than to smother these children with their love and introduce them to God's love during the time that they have them in their homes. All of
