Just Us

As I've been researching lately and reading books and blog posts, I feel like there is so much about adoption and orphan care that I don't know, yet I already feel that God is turning my heart not only towards adopting a child of our own, but somehow getting involved in orphan care. There are so many practical ways to do this, and God hasn't directed me toward one specific way yet, but the desire and passion is beginning to grow in my heart. I've recently been reading this book called Orphanology by Tony Merida and Rick Morton.This book emphasizes God's heart towards us and how he has adopted us into His family. It takes this wonderful example from all over the scriptures to show us how we should have the same heart toward others, especially orphans. The book of course talks about adoption and contains adoption stories, but is also a cry to the Church to "take care of the orphans and the widows" through financial support, prayer support, adoption and so...

So, Nathan and I are going to adopt. Yes, I said it, adopt. There has been a recent change from "Nathan and I would like to adopt someday" to "we are going to adopt". I have so many thoughts running through my head these days that this post may end up in a jumbled mess, but we'll just see. We are in the very beginning baby stages of our journey toward adoption, but you have to start there before you can go any further. It is so exciting and scary at the same time. I've heard others compare their process of adoption as similar to the feelings you have when you are pregnant with a biological child, and I feel that same way now. I feel like I did when I was pregnant with my first child, Ariana. While I was pregnant, I read everything about babies and pregnancy that I could get my hands on, I thought about it all the time and talked about it all the time. I feel as though I'm reacting the same way now, reading everything I can about adoption, researching a...

So, here is my contribution to the Mosaic Project (and to my home decor!). I love wall decorations, but they're so expensive, and I've thought of trying to make something of my own, but didn't think I was creative enough. I'm very happy with how this turned out, and it's definitely showed me that I can be creative. Watch out bare walls, here I come!

Last weekend we traveled to Omaha, NE to celebrate Ariana's birthday. Yes, it was a long and fast trip, but it was well worth it. We got to spend the weekend with my family, Nathan's family and the Pawlitcheks from Mankato. We had a blast. Swimming, pizza, games, presents and family. What more could you ask for? Ariana had a great time as well! :) We ended the weekend on Sunday and got to visit Don White's church in Omaha, and I got a chance to see my cousing Charity who is about to have a baby. Hooray! I'm thinking that Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye needing to be taking a trip to Wyoming instead of Vermont. I also think that it is Becca's fault that we have snow already. She's been in quite the Christmas mood lately and watched my favorite Christmas movie, White Christmas, just the other day. I can't really say that I've been much different though. I bought a baby Christmas stocking the other day. No, I'm not going to have a new baby this Christmas, but it was too cute to pass up, and some Christmas I will have a new baby.  Now on to: NEWS from Wyoming. Yes, it has been quite a while since I've posted anything to my blog. Life doesn't seem to be lending itself to the blogging world right now. A 10 hour work day as opposed to an 8 1/2 hour work day (the difference in travel time) is quite different, and I am still not used to it. By the time Ariana is in bed it's time for me to read a little bit of a good book and head off to bed myself so I can be ready for another 10 hour work day the next day. I love weekends! I will be in Heartland in exactly 2 weeks. I know everyone knows this, I just can't help sharing my excitement with everyone over and over again. I have started going to practices for the worship team here at Restoration and will be starting to help with services soon. This is very exciting to me.
